Montauk, NY, May 1, 2009 — FISHBAR ON THE LAKE ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING. Montauk restaurant boasts Nantucket style coastal cuisine that is simple, yet bursting with flavor and presented in a way that is intuitive and unexpected.
Fishbar on the Lake, under new ownership, is proud to announce its grand opening, providing locals and tourists alike the opportunity to explore the abundance of local fish available from Montauk waters.
Executive Chef and co-owner Jennifer Meadows, a graduate from Johnson & Wales University, uses local fish purchased right off the decks of local boats. All of the fish prepared at Fishbar on the Lake is picked out by Jennifer when the boats pull into the dock. It is then brought back to the restaurant, fabricated and portioned for the night’s service. Sometimes you can even catch the scallop boat pulling up to restaurant’s dock to drop off a cloth bag of fresh Montauk Scallops!
Chef Jennifer’s new menu focuses on fresh fish from Montauk boats coupled with exciting vegetable combinations and delicious sauces and chutneys influenced by the flavors of summer. The entrees range from $13.00 to $29.00 with appetizers ranging from $8.00 to $13.00. They have an extensive vegetarian menu with entrees ranging from $15.00 to $21.00 to which diners can also add favorites such as grilled shrimp, seared scallops, grilled chicken or any fish they have available.
Fishbar on the Lake also features an extensive wine menu with a combination of local Long Island wines, organic and international wines, a fine selection of eight draft beers in season, and a variety of exquisite tequilas for sipping or fresh margaritas.

Deviled Blue Claw Crab
Sweet crabmeat, red pepper, scallions and fresh herbs, stuffed in a crab shell with drawn butter and fresh lemon
Pan Seared Scallops with Hoppin’ John
Our Hoppin’ John is made with jasmine rice, black lentils, applewood
smoked bacon, local tomatoes & fresh pesto

For guests seeking a discount, Fishbar on the Lake will be offering a three course Fixed-Price menu Thursday – Sunday from 4:30 – 6:00, for $19.95. Guests can also sign up on the Fishbar website at www.freshlocalfish.com to receive notice via e-mail of specials and special events.
Upon entering the restaurant, guests will discover a laid back yet elegant atmosphere. The heated outdoor patio dining room has been completely redecorated as a coastal beach house complete with cabana style fabric panels on the ceiling, removable mahogany windows, white picnic benches with cushions, weathered glass lighting and table fabrics in matching prints and stripes.
The interior of the restaurant features artwork by local artist Doug Reina, whose portraits of local East End scenes are also available for sale.
“Our goal is to provide our guests with the widest possible array of local Montauk fish, prepared simply, yet bursting with flavor and presented in a way that is intuitive and unexpected,” says Chef Jennifer.
Fishbar on the Lake is located at 467 East Lake Drive. Jennifer & Daniel will host an OPENING PARTY Thursday, May 7th, featuring free hors devours starting at 6:00 PM and discounted drinks at the bar.
Regular dinner service will begin Friday at 4:30. The restaurant will be open Thursday – Sunday from 4:30 – 9:30. Beginning in July, Fishbar on the Lake will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. A buffet style Sunday Brunch will be available July and August, starting at 10:00 AM and going until 3:00 PM.
