Walking Dunes

In order to find the walking dunes travel west from town on highway 27 and take the first right after Cyril’s. Cross the rail road tracks and follow the road to its end. I walked through here on a breezy but hot August afternoon and would recommend the trail to everyone visiting Montauk. At one point on the trail all the noise of cars and visible buildings disappears and you’re left with the serenity of water, nature and of course, sand! Be sure to read the signage as to why they call then the “walking” dunes.

Sea Slug Lounge

No visit to Montauk is complete without stopping by the Sea Slug Lounge. My favorite is the crispy soft-shelled crab sandwich — great for a breazy summer afternoon.

Here’s what Joan Reminick had to say about the place, and here’s the Trip Advisor link. Directions are here.

Be sure to talk to owner Marie Valenti, and tell her the crew from Fishbar sent you down.
