George Watson is one crazy old cook, but don’t let that deter you from visiting this classic Montauk hangout. You can find his website here. While you’re there, don’t forget to watch George’s “Introduction to Montauk“. “The Dock” is quintessential old-school Montauk. The inside is an electric collection of various tchotchka that Mr. Watson’s has […]
We have to admit, we’re a little biased about this place since we own it! That being said… You should check out the chicken panini (Daniel’s favorite) or the veggie panini (Jennifer’s favorite). The coffee (regular drip or cappucino / latte / expresso) is locally roasted (from the Hampton Coffee Company) and tastes great. The […]
East by Northeast is our favorite place to visit in the winter, because 1) they’re open and 2) they offer an awesome prefix special for under $15 that has more food than you’ll know what to do with. The lakeside view is gorgeous, and the restaurant is within walking distance from the downtown area. Check […]
Dave’s Grill, still run by husband and wife Dave and Julie, is a local legend. Dave’s is pricey and hard to get into, but worth the wait. They have an odd reservation policy, so make sure you check their website to figure out how it works. We recommend Dave’s “Original” Cioppino and the Smoked Tuna […]
The Harvest is a staple Montauk restaurant that has been around for as long as anyone can remember. A white-tablecloth affair, the food is complemented by a beautiful view of Fort Pond. Portions are “family style” (i.e. for two), so order accordingly. We recommend the Grilled Marinated Lamb Ribs appetizer, and the Porterhouse Steak with […]
No visit to Montauk is complete without stopping by the Sea Slug Lounge. My favorite is the crispy soft-shelled crab sandwich — great for a breazy summer afternoon. Here’s what Joan Reminick had to say about the place, and here’s the Trip Advisor link. Directions are here. Be sure to talk to owner Marie Valenti, […]
Located in the Gone Fishing Marina on East Lake Drive, Fishbar on the Lake is one of the very few restaurants in Montauk that truly serves fresh fish caught by local fishermen. Be sure to try their Hoppin’ John Scallop dish (a local favorite), and, for the brave, their lobster plate “The Fishbar”.
Also located on East Lake Drive, just a stone’s throw down the road from Fishbar, Inlet serves some of the best sushi on Long Island, with an excellent view to boot. Stop on by and tell them the Fishbar crew sent you!
Rick’s Crabby Cowboy serves the best pulled pork sandwich we’ve had. Located right next door to Fishbar, the Crabby Cowboy has a large backyard right on the water, perfect for your kids to run around on. Rick, a dear friend of the Fishbar, is always there — be sure to tell him we sent you!
