Here are our recommendations for places to stay in Montauk. We only recommend places that follow our criteria of being fresh, local and fun.

We intend to update this page more fully in the future, but meanwhile here are two hotels to check out.

Our first recommendation is the Breaker’s Motel. Run by Bob & Helen Ficalora, they describe their motel as “an ideal [place] for just about everyone who is intrested in an uncrowded beach experiance.” The motel is located on the old Montauk highway, just a few minutes walk from downtown Montauk. Bob & Helen have been operating the hotel for many years now, and chances are you’ll find them in the office. If you have some time to spare, be sure to ask Bob about the history of Montauk (or take a look at his website here – be prepared for some pretty intense reading), and while you’re in the office take a look at Helen’s jewlery, which has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, In Style, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and Real Simple. Or you can visit her website here.

Our second recommendation is the Oceanside Beach Resort. This is the first hotel you see after you get off Napeague Stretch and just begin to enter Montauk. It’s on the right and has a funny looking roof. The owner (who you will find behind the front desk more often than not) is very friendly, and the rooms are clean.
